Kyle Mothershead
LEAD ATTORNEY
Relentless is led by Attorney Kyle Mothershead. With over twenty years of experience and a lengthy track record of success, Mr. Mothershead is regarded by many as the best attorney in middle Tennessee for litigating federal constitutional rights claims involving the justice system.
Mr. Mothershead graduated from Vanderbilt Law School in 2002 with several honors, then clerked for United States Middle District of Tennessee Judge Aleta Trauger. Declining the opportunity to seek work with one of the big “white shoe” firms, Mr. Mothershead followed his heart and spent the next eight and a half years as a Metro Nashville public defender. In that role Mr. Mothershead represented both adults and children, and built his core litigation skills and values through countless hours of courtroom experience dedicated to the sacred task of representing others.
In 2012, Mr. Mothershead started his own practice. Over the course of the next decade Mr. Mothershead scored several major successes in federal constitutional rights litigation, most notably by serving as lead counsel in the Rutherford County juvenile arrest and detention class action that later received nationwide attention thanks to the award-winning NY Times podcast “The Kids of Rutherford County". In 2021, Mr. Mothershead founded Relentless as a boutique firm focused on holding the justice system accountable to the Constitution.
Mr. Mothershead resides in Brentwood with his twins, Paul and Cassidy. Mr. Mothershead is extremely dedicated to his children, and spends as much time as he can with them when not leading Relentless.
